Neil was born
in Leicester (UK), and since childhood has always had a strong interest in the
natural world and art.
Undertaking a HND in Natural History Illustration at
Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design allowed
him to combine his two passions. After qualifying with
distinction in illustration and thoroughly grateful to his
lecturers for the opportunity they gave him to gain vital
experience, he was able to pursue painting and freelance
illustrating.
He has exhibited widely in the U.K. and Spain, including
the Society of Wildlife Artists, the Wildlife Art
Society,
Marwell Art Society and at the Game Fair.
His work is eagerly sought after by collectors and has
been successfuly sold under the hammer at Christie's and
Sotheby's auctions on many occasions.
His work is represented in public and
private colections such as the Diputación de Salamanca,
Spain (council of Salamanca) and the Sultanate/government
of Oman.
He was awarded the notable David Shepherd Art award at the
Wildlife Art Society exhibition in 2000. Later that year
his work was published as prints by Solomon &
Whitehead.
In 2002, 2004 and
2006 his work was jury selected into the prestigious
Birds in Art at Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum
(USA), and
had the honor of exhibiting his work alongside other
wildlife artists from all over the world.
He currently resides in Salamanca, Spain, living in the
natural park Las Arribes del Duero. |
