24th Sept. - 7th Oct.

Our trip to Brazil's lush and humid rainforest known as the Mata Atlântica is designed for the nature lover and photographer. We shall be visiting some of Brazil's most richest Wildlife sanctuaries and great conservation successes: Caraça, Caratinga and Itatiaia.

Along with our expert professional wildlife guide Regina Ribeiro and the help of her keen skills we'll seek out and look for the best photographic opportunities and enjoy her knowledgeable comments. We also plan to visit the elegant historical city Ouro Preto (UNESCO) and the spectacular city of Rio de Janeiro, it's beautiful tranquil Botanical gardens, Corcovado and Sugar Loaf .
Brasil is
the fifth largest country in area and population in the world, covering some 8.5 million square kilometers, and the biggest in South America.
In pure diversity Brazil is incredible, Its ecosystems can be divided into eight biomes, Amazon rainforest, semi-arid Caratinga, Cerrado, Atlantic forest (Mata Atlântica), Pantanal, Pampas, Araucaria forests and finally the coastal and insular ecosystems
(Mangroves, beaches and saline areas). Within this, 478 conservation sites and 18 World Heritage sites (UNESCO),of which Mata Atlântica (the Portuguese name for Atlantic forest) was declared a World Heritage site in 1999. It figures in the first 5 most important places in the world for diversity, endemic fauna and flora. Historically the Atlantic forest covered an extension of 16%, but human pressure has reduced this to 8%. Today the Mata Atlântica is one of the most endangered and threatened tropical rainforests on our planet. On our trip we shall discover, enjoy and explore many of the natural treasures Brazil offers us.
